Empowering Women for Success: Step Up for Women Pre-Apprenticeship Programs

Are you a woman seeking to break into the construction or advanced manufacturing industries? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you. We are currently recruiting for our Fall 2023 cohorts for our Step Up for Women Construction Pre-apprenticeship and Step Up for Women Advanced Manufacturing Pre-apprenticeship programs. These programs are designed to equip women with the essential skills needed for nontraditional careers, opening doors to new opportunities and success.

Location and Duration

The Construction Pre-apprenticeship program is held in Charleston and Morgantown, WV, while the Advanced Manufacturing Pre-apprenticeship program is based solely in Charleston, WV. Both programs run for 12 weeks, providing intensive, hands-on training that prepares women for the workforce.

Cost and Scholarships

We believe in empowering all women, regardless of their financial situation. That’s why these trainings are offered free of charge, thanks to scholarships and funding from our partner organizations.

Training and Certifications

Our programs focus on teaching essential job skills such as communication, resume writing, goal setting, overcoming barriers, career exploration, and budgeting. Participants will also receive certifications in First Aid, CPR, AED, Forklift Operation, Intro to Welding, HVAC & Plumber in Training, and OSHA 10.

Industry Exposure

We understand the importance of real-world exposure. Therefore, we invite industry guest speakers, including past graduates, and organize site tours to give students a glimpse of what it’s like on the job.

Hands-On Projects

The Construction program cycles through basic carpentry, plumbing, and electrical skills, while the Manufacturing program focuses on the newest technologies, ensuring participants have a solid understanding of all the basics.

Support and Job Placement Assistance

We provide mileage reimbursement for students and offer job placement assistance. We also help participants figure out the best career path suited to their needs, considering factors such as childcare and transportation. Our goal is to set each student up for the best chances of success.
