Apprenticeship Ambassador Initiative

West Virginia Women Work is pleased to be a part of the Department Of Labor’s Apprenticeship Ambassador Initiative as they commit to expanding, diversifying, and modernizing Registered Apprenticeships to support the success of workers, employers, and communities across the country. The goal is to increase diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility in Registered Apprenticeship Programs(RAPs), engage the industry in new and emerging sectors, and expand pre-apprenticeships, youth apprenticeships, and degree apprenticeships.

We will work with the DOL to promote and expand awareness about the benefits of RAPs, identify and scale innovative practices and partnerships to modernize, strengthen, and accelerate the adoption of Registered Apprenticeships, increase access and support for underrepresented and underserved populations in Registered Apprenticeships including women, youth, people of color, rural communities, justice-involved individuals, people with disabilities, and communicate the business case for Registered Apprenticeship as a mainstream workforce strategy for high-demand industries and creating opportunities for good jobs for all Americans across the economy.

If your organization has experience with Registered Apprenticeships and would like to learn more, or you would like to partner with DOL to bring awareness to others about them, apply on their website at Apprenticeship.gov.
