West Virginia Women Work Receives Grant to Empower Women Through the PartnerUp Mentoring Program

We are thrilled to announce that West Virginia Women Work has received a $30,000 grant from Truist Foundation. This significant financial boost will be instrumental in advancing our PartnerUp Mentoring Program, a transformative initiative designed to empower women across West Virginia.

A Step Forward in Achieving Our Mission

The grant serves as a significant milestone in our ongoing mission to foster educational and economic equity for women in the state. The funds will be strategically allocated to various facets of the PartnerUp program, including mentor training and development, resource curation, community outreach, and operational support. Additionally, we will provide free access to specialized West Virginia Women Work trainings.

More Than Immediate Assistance

Dara Britton, our Financial & Program Development Manager, emphasized the long-term impact of the program: “This program is not just about immediate assistance; it’s about long-term impact. Through PartnerUp, we aim to gain invaluable insights into how we can better serve the diverse community of women in West Virginia. Our ultimate goal is to empower the women of West Virginia to achieve economic success, not just for themselves but as a lasting legacy for their families for generations to come.”

Who Benefits from the Grant?

The grant will primarily benefit unemployed or underemployed women in West Virginia, especially those who face barriers to education and employment. Our mentees will come from diverse backgrounds and various socioeconomic statuses, making the program both inclusive and far-reaching.

Addressing Pivotal Challenges

The grant will address several key challenges facing women in the state. It will offer much-needed mentorship and guidance to those seeking to overcome educational and employment barriers. Additionally, the grant will empower us to customize resources to meet the distinct needs of women in various counties and regions throughout the state. Importantly, this funding will also facilitate the development of a scalable model for the PartnerUp Mentoring Program, laying the groundwork for potential expansion into other states or regions.

Measuring Success

The success of the PartnerUp Mentoring Program will be measured using a set of key metrics. These include the number of mentors successfully recruited and trained, the enrollment rates of mentees in the program, and the development of resource networks across various counties or regions in West Virginia. Additionally, the completion of a scalable model that is ready for expansion into other states will serve as a significant milestone. Finally, we will track changes in mentees’ educational and employment statuses through regular check-ins and comprehensive end-of-program surveys.

We are incredibly grateful to Truist Foundation for their generous support, and we look forward to making a lasting impact on the lives of women in West Virginia. Stay tuned for updates on the PartnerUp Mentoring Program and the incredible stories of empowerment and success that are sure to follow.
