Introducing SkillUp: Your Fast-Track to Essential Career Skills
Not everyone has the time or interest to fully immerse themselves in a 12-week Step Up Pre-Apprenticeship program. That’s why we created SkillUp — a flexible way to build the skills you need to succeed in any career path you choose.
SkillUp now offers two ways to learn:
SkillUp Live: Scheduled sessions taught by WV Women Work instructors and subject-expert volunteers.
SkillUp On Demand: A growing library of self-paced courses available anytime, anywhere.
What You’ll Learn
SkillUp courses cover the essentials that matter most for work and life, including:
Resume Writing: Create a standout resume that paves the way for interviews.
Budgeting & Credit: Take charge of your finances and build a strong credit history.
Communication: Fine-tune your workplace communication skills.
Goals & Barriers: Learn to set realistic goals and navigate life’s challenges.
Online Persona: Secure your social media accounts and craft a LinkedIn profile that gets noticed.
Career Exploration: Discover careers that match your skills, interests, and lifestyle.
Nontraditional Career Exploration: Explore high-demand trades and careers you might not have considered.
Digital Skills & Tech Tools: Build confidence with Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, AI, coding, project management, Salesforce, and more.
Workplace & Life Skills: Learn etiquette, problem-solving, critical thinking, investing basics, and how to avoid online scams.
Flexibility to Suit Your Needs
SkillUp Live sessions are scheduled throughout the year — join as many or as few as you like.
SkillUp On Demand lets you start anytime and learn at your own pace, whether you want to complete one course or the entire series.
Cost
Thanks to a generous grant from Comcast, all SkillUp courses — both Live and On Demand — are offered at no charge.
