When I first interviewed with Nichole, I was struck by how amazing this program was, and I told her right then: “Whether I’m accepted or not, I want you to know that what you’re doing here is phenomenal, and I support it fully.” Now, as a proud participant, I can say that being part of this program has far exceeded my expectations in the best possible way.
From day one, I’ve seen firsthand the positive and inspiring influence this program has had on everyone around me. Watching women who’ve never picked up a tool in their life have the courage to make their first cut, and seeing that powerful shift in their mindset—from “I can’t” to “I can”—has been an honor to witness. Moments like these remind me why I love this kind of work; it’s tangible, it’s real, and you get to celebrate the results of your effort right then and there.
For so long, I did this work alone, tinkering away in my workshop, wondering if I’d ever find others who share my passion. I’m not the kind of person who unwinds with Netflix or TV; I find my peace with my tools and projects. So, to be part of a group of women who also thrive on hands-on work has been more uplifting than I could have ever imagined.
The mental health boost I’ve experienced from this community has been life-changing, and I am deeply grateful for every moment. And a special part of this journey is how it aligns with my “Tank Girl” identity—something that’s been with me since I was sixteen and remains a part of me, even marked in ink on my right sleeve. It feels culturally fitting here, like a natural expression of everything I believe in and stand for.
Thank you to everyone who has been part of this journey with me. This program isn’t just a course or a certification; it’s become a lifelong commitment and a community I’ll carry with me always. I can’t wait to see what we achieve by graduation and beyond. Here’s to the power of community, skill, and belief in one another!
