Empowering Futures: A Year of Triumph and Transformation at West Virginia Women Work

2023 has been a landmark year for West Virginia Women Work, as we continue to witness the fruition of our dedication and hard work through the Step Up for Women Construction Program. We are overjoyed to share the successes and milestones achieved by our four cohorts, embodying the spirit of empowerment and skill.

A Journey of Growth and Achievement

This year we saw 30 remarkable graduates, each of whom has shown immense resilience and commitment. They’ve undergone intensive training in diverse trades such as carpentry, electrical, plumbing, and welding. This rigorous journey has not just been about acquiring new skills; it has been about shaping futures and forging new paths in nontraditional fields.

Economic Impact and Career Advancement

The accomplishments of our graduates in 2023 have had a significant ripple effect on the local economy. A striking 70% of our graduates have secured employment, boasting an average hourly income of $380.18. This translates to an extraordinary total of $462,945.00 in annual earnings, assuming a full-time employment schedule. It’s a matter of pride that all these employed graduates are making strides in non-traditional careers, breaking stereotypes and paving the way for future generations.

Education, Certification, and Beyond

Our commitment to comprehensive education and practical skill-building has been underscored by the 318 industry-recognized certifications earned by 41 of our students. From OSHA 10 Construction Safety to CNC Machine Operator, these certifications are not just accolades but stepping stones to a brighter future. They represent our unwavering dedication to nurturing a skilled workforce ready to meet the challenges of various industries.

Looking Back with Pride

As we look back at 2023, we are filled with pride and gratitude. The journey of each student, the commitment of our staff, and the support from our community have collectively shaped a year of unprecedented success. We have not only empowered individuals but have also contributed to building a skilled, diverse, and dynamic workforce.

We enter 2024 with renewed enthusiasm, ready to continue our mission of empowering women through skill and opportunity. Join us as we celebrate these achievements and forge ahead into another year of making a difference.
